OUR HISTORY
How TRU Came to Be
The idea for TRU started with a simple complaint. I (Temi) was walking on my treadmill desk, trying to get my steps in while working, and realized my smartwatch wasn’t tracking anything. Super annoying. When I told Tomi during a visit in March 2024, she laughed and said she had the same problem -but hers also didn’t count steps when she was pushing the stroller with her kids.
That little moment sparked something. We started noticing all the ways our smartwatches were failing us. I even started wearing mine on my ankle just to get accurate data. Then I went online and saw so many other people complaining about the same thing.
We’ve always been the resourceful type, our parents are entrepreneurs, and our dad was an engineer. So we grew up tinkering and figuring things out. And with our backgrounds, we knew we could build something better.
